Sandra（サンドラ）さんです。

スタジオに家具もいろいろ持ち込んで、上手にパーソナルスペースを作り出していました。古い扉に糸をディスプレイするアイディアなど、パリジェンヌらしい独創性。
イラストレーターとして活躍していて雑誌の挿絵などを描いている彼女ですが、アーティストとしても活動の幅を広げ、イラストレーションと刺繍・テキスタイルを組合せた平面作品を生み出していきたい、とのこと。
写真の奥に写っているのが新作の雪山の刺繍イラスト作品、今は雲を刺繍で表現する作品を製作中です。
彼女の作品はこちらからご覧下さい。ウェブサイトには色使いのバランスがとても心地よい作品が並んでいます。展覧会も開催したいと言っていたので、実現したら必ずレポートしますね。

Today’s featured artist from Ateliers de Paris is Sandra Dufour.
She created a very cosy personal space in her studio. The idea of displaying the color threads on an old door is very “Paris”, I think.
She is an illustrator and presenting her works on magazines. Now she is widening her medium of representation into embroidery and textile as well, and working on a larger scale.
You can see her new piece on the photo. It is a large embroidered picture of snow mountain. She is now working on representing a “cloud”.
Please take a look at her works. I found all of her works having a very nice balance of colors. She says she is hoping to have an exhibition with her embroidery works. I’m very much looking forward to posting a report on it !

Luce Couillet / Design Textile

アトリエ・ド・パリにはテキスタイルデザイナーが４名入居しています。Luce（ルース）さんは、中でも建築やインテリア寄りの作品を作っているクリエイター。彼女の作品はこちらからご覧下さい。

スタジオには大きなコンピューター制御の織機が導入されています。
彼女の作品は金属を細く加工した糸や、化学繊維やゴム等を使用していて、非常に構造的に織られていることが特徴。
インテリア壁にも利用できるような、デザイン性の高い断熱材や遮音材を開発しています。イタリアのメーカーから近く製品を発表できそうという事で、今後期待のクリエイターです。

先日、彼女も作品を出品したグループ展に行ってきました。
通りから一見しただけではギャラリーとは分からないですが、

一歩入れば中庭のあるとてもすてきな場所でした。
いちばん奥の扉がギャラリーです。

There are 4 textile designers in Ateliers de Paris.
I found works by Luce Couillet very interesting because they are geared more towards architecture and interior.
She has a large computer operated machine in her studio.
She works with man-made fibers such as metallic fibers, rubbers, and synthetic fibers and creates beautiful / structural textiles which can be used for interior partitions, heat or sound insulation, exterior shades and so on.

I was at a group exhibition last week where Luce also exhibited her works.
From the street, one would not expect to find a gallery inside, but once you step into the courtyard / walkway, it was such a beautiful place to be.

On ne joue pas à table

アトリエドパリには面白い活動をしている方がたくさんいます。
こちらはCharlotte（シャーロット）さん。

彼女は「On ne joue pas à table」というブランド名で活動をしているフード企画デザイナーで、彼女の仕事はどれも非常にユニークです。
こちらの動画は彼女の一番最近の企画。

二人羽織
ビョーンと伸びたカトラリー
隣の人と手がくっついた手袋…などなど
食にまつわる様々な遊びをデザインし、イベントにケータリングするのがCharlotteの仕事です。全てのゲームは購入も可能。

ブランド名の「On ne joue pas à table」は、「たべもので遊んではいけません」という意味。
ブランディングにもユーモアが効いていて、とても記憶に残ります。

Today, I would like to introduce Charlotte Brocard from Ateliers de Paris.
She is a food event designer and her brand is “On ne joue pas à table”.
You can find examples of her unique ideas in the video.

Cutlery with loooong neck,
Gloves that force you to eat together with the person next to you,
Dice that tells you to do things that you are not supposed to do with food… and so on.
Her job is to design a variety of games at the table and cater them to events. All games are also purchasable through her website.

Her brand name “On ne joue pas à table” means “Do not play at the table”. It’s an example of successful branding there.
What a great sense of humor. Also it stays in your memory.
Looking forward to her future projects about the environment around the table.

11月から / de novembre.

アトリエ・ド・パリでオフィスを借りているテキスタイルデザイナーを紹介します。

Judithという女性で「de novembre.」(仏語で「11月から」の意）というブランドで活動されています。
パキスタンの染色工房で３年間仕事をしてパリに戻ってこられました。
日本のちりめんや絞り染めは本当に素晴らしいと嬉しそうに話してくれました。
もともとの専門は刺繍だそうで、それと染めを組み合わせた作品もこれから開発したいとの事。

Here is one of the textile designers in Ateliers de Paris.
Her name is Judith and her brand is called “de novembre.” (“from November” in French.)
She worked in a dye work factory in Pakistan for 3 years. She is also interested in Japanese dying techniques.
Her original profession was embroidery, so she is now seeking a way to combine both techniques.

本格始動です。

アトリエ・ド・パリという、
パリ市が運営する、若手クリエイターのインキュベーション施設に入居します。私がお借りするスタジオはこちら。６階建ての施設の２階です。

ここを５人のデザイナーでシェアします。
学生時代に戻ったような感覚ですね・・・
こちらはお隣さんになったプロダクトデザイナーのEliseさんと、
インターンのFannyさん。実験モデルと一緒に撮影。

The first day at the office.
This is an incubation facility called “Les Ateliers de Paris” run by the city of Paris.
My office is at the 2nd floor of 6 story building and it will be shared with 4 other designers. It feels like good old school days all over again!
She is my neighbor, Elise, and her intern, Fanny, with their experimental model.
There are 13 artists and designers in Les Ateliers de Paris. I have a feeling that it will be a place of active and valuable communications.
